Who we are?

The Russian-Canadian Cultural Aid Society (RCCAS) was founded in 1950 as a nonprofit organization. It is run entirely by volunteers. The Society's mission is to promote and maintain rich Russian cultural traditions and help new immigrants integrate into the Canadian way of life. Concerts, lectures, folk dancing, drama club, were some of the activities organized by RCCAS. This website is to help those interested in our community, to easily access information regarding our events, receive news updates, and find out more about the RCCAS and our initiatives.

The objectives of the Society are:

To preserve Russian culture and traditions, To assist in the growth and development of Russian culture, To ensure the basis for unifying Russian people, To establish a centre to bring together all those who by their direct involvement are interested in the preservation and development of Russian culture, To conduct activities within the framework and observance of the laws of Canada,

The purpose of the Foundation

is to foster the preservation and evolution of Russian culture and language in the context of the Canadian multicultural reality. The Foundation will exist for the benefit of the Russian-Canadian community by providing the means and facilities necessary for the actualization and cultural development of the community. The Foundation will be guided by ideals that incorporate affirmation of cultural identity and principles of traditional Russian and Canadian values in all its activities and undertaking

History

The Russian-Canadian Cultural Heritage Foundation of Maria Blagoveshchensky is a philanthropic institution providing leadership by building and nurturing a permanent fund that is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Russian Canadian cultural heritage and the advancement of a flourishing the Russian community for the enrichment of Canada.

RUSSIAN GALA BALL PERFORMERS

Helena Holl

Helena Holl image Helena Holl began her vocal studies at Moscow’s Gnesins Musical Academy, after which she was accepted into a private class of Boris Pokrovsky, of the prestigious Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Following completion of her studies, Ms. Holl performed in numerous productions with the Moscow Operetta Theatre, and the Moscow Stanislavsky Opera and Ballet Theatre. After moving from Moscow to Budapest, Ms. Holl performed with Interoperett Ltd., sang at the Xanten Arena Theatre in Germany and the Bromberg “Opera Nova” Theatre in Poland. Strausse’s The Gypsy Baron and Sonya of Lehar’s operetta Tsarevitch have been performed during tours across Germany, France, Austria, Holland and Switzerland.

Ms. Holl made her North American debut in Gala Benefit Concert at the Ford Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. She sung for the performances of the “Salute to Vienna” Concert Series where she appeared with Jerry Hadley. Ms. Holl had a great success at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver and at the Boettcher Concert Hall in Denver. She performed in concerts at the Arlene Schnitzer Hall in Portland, Oregon, the Cerritos Centre in Los Angeles, the Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego and the Chrysler Theatre in Windsor with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. She sang Tatiana in Yevgeny Onegin at CBC Glenn Gould Studio.
