Greetings from the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism
I would like to extend my warmest greetings to all those attending the Russian Gala Ball, hosted
by the Russian-Canadian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Russian-Canadian Cultural Aid Society.
The Russian Gala Ball is an excellent occasion to bring communities together in celebration of Russian culture and traditions as well as a wonderful way of showcasing Canada's multicultural splendour and engaging all Canadians in a shared multicultural experience.
In celebrating our cultural diversity, we are all reminded of the countless blessings we enjoy by living here in Canada – including freedom of expression. As Prime Minister Stephen Harper stated: "Canadians are rightly proud of the fact that we are a nation of immigrants, people who have come from all corners of the earth and who have worked together to build one of the most peaceful and prosperous nations in human history."
As Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, I would like to commend the organizers of this event for their continued efforts to bring Canadians a taste of the artistic vibrancy of Russia. I would also like to thank the entire Russian Canadian community for your dedication to our pluralism.
My best wishes for a wonderful event!
Sincerely,
The Honourable Jason Kenney, PC, MP
Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism
